Cadillac Sticks with One Entry for 2024 WEC Due to Cost Barrier

Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) currently operates the lone Cadillac V-Series.R in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). However, plans for expanding the team’s presence have been put on hold due to cost constraints.

During an IMSA video call with select media, Mark Stielow, Director of Competition Engineering for General Motors, confirmed this update. He addressed the issue ahead of the season finale at Road Atlanta.

“We’re going to have one car in the WEC,” Stielow stated.

Despite any desired expansion, CGR’s Cadillac team will continue with a single entry for the 2024 WEC season due to the financial challenges involved.

This decision is a result of measured cost considerations and is aimed at ensuring the team’s sustainability within the championship. While there may have been plans for more entries, the current circumstances necessitate focusing efforts on a single car.

CGR and Cadillac’s presence in the WEC has been remarkable, showcasing their racing prowess and technical capabilities. Their performance has been commendable, and they have made a significant impact on the championship.

The Cadillac V-Series.R has demonstrated exceptional speed and reliability, consistently challenging its competitors on various circuits. The car’s engineering excellence, combined with the team’s skill and expertise, has propelled them to the forefront of endurance racing.

The decision to stick with one entry does not dampen the team’s resolve or determination to excel in the WEC. They remain committed to delivering the best performance possible and upholding Cadillac’s legacy in motorsports.

While it would have been exciting to see CGR expand their presence in the WEC, the team’s dedication to cost-effectiveness ensures their continued participation. They recognize the importance of balancing ambition with financial feasibility.

As the 2024 WEC season approaches, fans can expect to witness CGR and Cadillac’s unwavering spirit, as they take on their rivals and strive for success.
