Controversial Incident Mars Russell’s Qualifying at Brazilian GP
In a moment of controversy during the qualifying session at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Williams driver George Russell has received a two-place grid penalty for impeding Alpine driver Pierre Gasly.
The incident occurred as Russell exited the pitlane in Q1, just before the first flying laps of the session. In an attempt to create a gap to the cars in front, Russell slowly rolled down the pit exit on the inside of the Senna Esses. However, due to the narrow nature of the pit exit, he ended up impeding Gasly, who expressed his frustration over the team radio.
