History of Autodrom Most
Built on reclaimed mining land
Autodrom Most broke ground in 1978 and opened in 1983 on land reshaped by the extensive coal mining that dominates the region around the city of Most in northwest Bohemia. From early on the circuit's tight, technical layout made it a favourite for touring cars, motorcycles and, from the early 1990s, a new and unusual attraction: truck racing. Decline and rebuild
By the mid-1990s the facility had become worn and, in places, unsafe, and the FIA and FIM withdrew the circuit's racing licences in 1995. A new operating company was formed to take over the track, and an immediate renovation programme rebuilt retaining walls and installed barriers to modern FIA and FIM standards, restoring the circuit's international standing.
