Ferrari Dominates Qualifying Simulations at Singapore GP
During the second half of the session at the Singapore Grand Prix, Ferrari showcased their dominance in the qualifying simulations. As the sun started to set, the team strategically waited for the track temperature to drop even further before sending out both drivers for their flying laps.
Carlos Sainz was the first to make his attempt on the soft tyres, clocking an impressive 1m32.065s time. This propelled him to the top spot, and his lap time proved to be unbeatable as the session progressed.
Lewis Hamilton, driving for Mercedes, made a late push to try and challenge Sainz’s time. However, despite his best efforts, he couldn’t surpass the Spaniard and had to settle for second place.
Russell Shows Promising Performance for Mercedes
Another standout performance came from George Russell, the young British driver representing Mercedes. Despite missing out on the fastest lap, Russell showed immense promise with his consistent and competitive drives throughout the session.
With their strong showing in the qualifying simulations, Ferrari has sent a clear message to their competitors that they are a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming race. The team’s decision to wait for optimal conditions paid off, and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their supremacy in the actual qualifying round.
The Singapore Grand Prix promises an exciting battle between the top teams, with Ferrari leading the pack in the practice sessions. Will they be able to translate their practice performance into a pole position in the qualifying round? Only time will tell.
