NASCAR Cup Series competitor Harrison Burton is set to make a highly anticipated return to the Craftsman Truck Series this weekend, confirmed to drive the No. 5 TRICON Garage entry at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The announcement sees the son of racing veteran Jeff Burton stepping back into a Truck for the first time in four years, creating a buzz among series fans.

Burton, who currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Sam Hunt Racing, boasts an impressive resume including victories in both the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series. His return to the Truck Series, where he first cut his teeth in NASCAR’s national touring ranks, is seen by many as a unique opportunity to add to his already considerable experience.

A Familiar Road Home

The 2019 season saw Burton as a full-time fixture in the Truck Series, a path that ultimately led him to a four-win season in the Xfinity Series the following year. His progression continued into the Cup Series with Wood Brothers Racing, where he secured a memorable victory at the summer Daytona race during the 2024 season. Despite his success in higher divisions, a Craftsman Truck Series win has eluded him across his 40 previous starts. However, his record of 11 top-fives, 18 top-tens, six third-place finishes, and a pole position demonstrates his consistent competitiveness at this level.

For TRICON Garage, the No. 5 truck has been a rotating door for talent this season, with notable drivers such as Corey Heim, Graham Doyle, Adam Andretti, Spencer Davis, William Sawalich, and Chase Briscoe all taking turns behind the wheel. Burton’s addition to this roster brings a new level of expertise and adds an intriguing dynamic to the team’s weekend efforts.

At Indianapolis Raceway Park, Burton will be joined by a strong TRICON Garage lineup, including teammates Kaden Honeycutt, Tanner Gray, and Gio Ruggiero.
