Jessica Hawkins Makes History with Aston Martin F1 Test

Jessica Hawkins in an Aston Martin

Hawkins, a former W Series driver, created history by becoming the first woman to test a current or near-current grand prix car since Tatiana Calderon.

Calderon, who had a brief outing in a Sauber C37 on a filming day in Mexico back in 2018, also drove a 2013-spec C32 for the team later that year and in 2019.

Prior to her recent test with Aston Martin, Hawkins had driven older F1 cars in demonstration runs, but this opportunity was different as she awaited her chance to get behind the wheel of a more up-to-date machine.

Hawkins’ test with the Aston Martin team marks a significant step forward for women in motorsport, highlighting the increasing diversity and inclusion within the industry.

Aston Martin’s decision to give Hawkins this opportunity showcases their commitment to promoting equality and providing opportunities for talented individuals regardless of gender.

Hawkins’ achievement will serve as an inspiration for young girls and women around the world who aspire to pursue a career in motorsport.
