Toyota protege Miyata signs for Rodin Carlin in maiden F2 campaign
Miyata, who became the youngest driver ever to win both of Japanese motorsport’s two most prestigious series in the same year, will contest dual programmes in F2 and the European Le Mans Series with LMP2 outfit Cool Racing.
The 24-year-old will join Red Bull junior Zane Maloney, who returns to the squad for a second year.
Miyata said: “I’m excited to join Rodin Carlin and participate in FIA F2 for the upcoming season. It’s a great opportunity for me to further develop my skills and compete against some of the best drivers in the world. I’m grateful for the support from Toyota and everyone who has helped me reach this point in my career.”
Rodin Carlin team principal Jacky Eeckelaert added: “We are pleased to welcome Miyata to our team for his debut FIA F2 campaign. He has proven his talent and determination in the Japanese racing scene and we are confident that he will adapt quickly to the demands of F2 racing. We look forward to working with him and helping him progress as a driver.”
