History of Spring Creek Motocross Park
From flooded farmland to hillclimb track
The land that became Spring Creek Motocross Park was originally a working farm in a Minnesota river valley, but seasonal snowmelt flooding made it too unreliable to cultivate. In 1967, Grant Marquardt turned his interest in motorcycles into a hillclimb venue on the property, running it for eight years before retiring and selling the facility to Perry Hendricks.
Perry Hendricks and the first National
Hendricks added a proper motocross track in 1976 and grew the facility's reputation through the following years, securing a round of the now-defunct Trans-AMA Series in 1982. Spring Creek MX Park held its first AMA motocross national on August 28, 1983, establishing it as a fixture on the sport's national calendar from its very first year hosting professional racing.
The Martin family era
In 1987 ownership passed to John and Greta Martin, who committed themselves fully to developing the park into the world-class facility it is today.
