Vandoorne Balances WEC and Formula E

Vandoorne to Balance WEC and Formula E Commitments

Stoffel Vandoorne, the reserve driver for Aston Martin in Formula 1, will also be competing in the full World Endurance Championship (WEC) schedule alongside his Formula E commitments next season.

This year, Vandoorne has shared the reserve job with Felipe Drugovich, fitting in trips to grands prix around the Formula E calendar. Despite his busy schedule, Vandoorne has been able to contribute to Aston Martin by driving their simulator and getting his first taste of the AMR23 on track during a Pirelli test at Spa.

Balancing Act

However, next season will present a new challenge for Vandoorne as he will now have to balance his commitments between the two racing series. This means his availability to be the reserve driver for Aston Martin in Formula 1 may be reduced.

Vandoorne is optimistic about successfully managing his dual role, stating that he hopes his WEC drive with Peugeot will not compromise his responsibilities as the reserve driver for Aston Martin in Formula 1.

A Season of Challenges

Competing in both the WEC and Formula E can pose various challenges for Vandoorne. The demanding schedules, different types of racing cars, and traveling between different race locations can be physically and mentally demanding.

However, Vandoorne is confident in his abilities and believes that his experience in both racing series will ultimately benefit him as a driver. He sees the opportunity to compete in the WEC as a valuable experience to further develop his skills and showcase his versatility.

The Road Ahead

Vandoorne’s commitment to both the WEC and Formula E reflects his determination to excel in multiple racing categories. While the balancing act may bring its own set of challenges, Vandoorne remains focused on delivering strong performances and contributing to the success of Aston Martin in Formula 1.

As the upcoming season approaches, fans will eagerly watch Vandoorne’s progress and cheer for his achievements on both the WEC and Formula E circuits. It will be an exciting journey as he navigates the road ahead and strives to make the most of his opportunities in the world of motorsport.
