WRC Greece: Tanak podium hopes dented by water pump issue
Friday Morning’s Two Stage Loop
The M-Sport driver, Ott Tänak, had a strong start in the WRC Greece rally. He ended Friday morning’s two stage loop in fourth position, only 8.3 seconds behind the leader Thierry Neuville from Hyundai.
Trouble Strikes in the Tyre Fitting Zone
However, it was in the tyre fitting zone where drama struck for Tänak and his Ford Puma. A water pump issue developed, which prompted immediate action from the team. Tänak and co-driver Martin Järveoja joined forces with the mechanics to find a fix for the problem.
Frantic Work to Resolve the Issue
The entire team worked frantically to resolve the water pump issue and get Tänak back on track. Despite the challenges, they managed to find a solution. However, it came at a cost.
Tänak Forced to Leave
Unfortunately, Tänak had to leave the service park later than anticipated after the water pump issue, which impacted his overall time in the race.
Podium Hopes Dented
Due to the water pump issue and the subsequent delay, Tänak’s chances of securing a podium finish in the WRC Greece rally were significantly dented. He will now need to push harder and make up for lost time to regain a favorable position in the race.
