The Moscow Street Circuit was a temporary 2.39 km (1.49 mi), 13-turn layout laid out on public roads immediately beside the Kremlin, on the north bank of the Moskva River. The start line sat on the Moskvoretskaya Embankment with the main straight running alongside the river, before the track turned onto Kitaygorodskiy Lane, looped near the Church of All Saints, and continued along Varvarka Street, passing landmarks including Red Square, Staraya Square, the Gostiny Dvor and St Basil's Cathedral. It was used for a single event, the 2015 Moscow ePrix, and has not been laid out again since.

The circuit hosted a single Formula E race, the 2015 Moscow ePrix, on 6 June 2015 as round nine of the 2014-15 championship season. Nelson Piquet Jr. won the race, Jean-Éric Vergne took pole position, and Sébastien Buemi set the fastest lap. Formula E did not return to Moscow after 2015, and no other major motorsport event has used the circuit since.

Getting there and parking

The former circuit's streets sit in the heart of central Moscow immediately beside the Kremlin, within easy walking distance of Red Square and reachable by the city's metro system; there is no circuit infrastructure left to visit, only the ordinary streets and public spaces of the area.

Formula E races beside the Kremlin

The Moscow Street Circuit was laid out on public roads in the heart of the Russian capital, on the north bank of the Moskva River directly beside the Kremlin, for round nine of Formula E's inaugural 2014-15 championship. The 2.39 km, 13-turn temporary layout started on the Moskvoretskaya Embankment, ran along the riverbank, then wound through Kitaygorodskiy Lane and Varvarka Street past some of Moscow's most recognisable landmarks, including Red Square, Staraya Square, the Gostiny Dvor and St Basil's Cathedral, giving the fledgling electric racing series a striking backdrop in one of the world's most historic city centres.

A single race

The 2015 Moscow ePrix was held on 6 June 2015. Jean-Éric Vergne took pole position, Nelson Piquet Jr. won the race, and Sébastien Buemi set the circuit's fastest lap, 1:11.679, during the 35-lap contest. It remains the only Formula E race, and the only major international motorsport event, held on the circuit.

No return to the calendar

Formula E did not return to Moscow after the 2015 race, and the Moscow ePrix has not been repeated in any subsequent season. As with other Formula E street circuits of that era, the layout was always a temporary one built from ordinary public roads rather than a permanent facility, and it has not been laid out again since 2015. The streets used for the circuit today function as an ordinary part of central Moscow's historic core, with no trace of the race remaining for a visitor to see.
