Track map and layout

The Hyderabad Street Circuit was a temporary 2.835 km, 18-turn street layout laid out on public roads around NTR Garden and NTR Marg beside Hussain Sagar Lake in central Hyderabad, run clockwise past the IMAX road area. The track hugged the lakeside and was tightened with a chicane at the Hussain Sagar corner before its only Formula E race to reduce cornering speeds along the waterfront, giving it a technical, tightly bound character typical of temporary city-street venues. It never raced in a second configuration, so the layout raced in February 2023 is the only version of the circuit that was ever used.

The circuit hosted a single Formula E race, the inaugural Hyderabad ePrix on 11 February 2023, India's first Formula E event and its first FIA Grade 2 international motorsport race since the 2013 Indian Grand Prix. Jean-Éric Vergne won for DS Penske. A planned 2024 Hyderabad E-Prix was cancelled by Formula E Operations in January 2024 after citing a breach of the host city agreement by the Telangana state government following a change of administration, and the circuit has not hosted a championship race since.

The former circuit sits in central Hyderabad around Hussain Sagar Lake, close to the city's main hotel and business districts, and is well served by the city's metro and road network; there is no dedicated event transport now that the circuit is inactive.

History of Hyderabad Street Circuit

India's first Formula E venue

The Hyderabad Street Circuit was built on public roads around NTR Garden and the Hussain Sagar Lake waterfront in central Hyderabad, opening in November 2022 as a temporary 2.835 km, 18-turn layout designed to host Formula E's first-ever race in India. It became the first street circuit in the country to be certified by the FIA, and its construction was backed by the Telangana state government as part of a push to host major international sporting events in the city.

A single, historic race

The circuit hosted the inaugural Hyderabad ePrix on 11 February 2023 as round four of the 2022-23 Formula E World Championship, India's first Formula E event and its first FIA Grade 2-status international motorsport race since the 2013 Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit. Jean-Éric Vergne won the race for DS Penske, with Norman Nato setting the circuit's only official race lap record in a Nissan e-4ORCE 04. The Hussain Sagar corner along the lakeside was tightened with a chicane ahead of the race to manage cornering speeds on the tight, bound-in street layout.

Cancellation and defunct status

A second Hyderabad E-Prix was scheduled for February 2024, but Formula E Operations cancelled it in January 2024, citing a breach of the host city agreement that had been signed in October 2023 by the outgoing Bharat Rashtra Samithi state government. The breach centred on the incoming administration's failure to honour hosting commitments, including payments and logistical support, after a change of government in Telangana. With no revised agreement reached since, the circuit has not hosted another championship race, and as of 2026 there is no confirmed plan for Formula E or any other major series to return to Hyderabad.
