De Vries Joins Toyota WEC Team for 2024 Season
Nyck De Vries is set to join the Toyota Gazoo Racing team for the 2024 season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The Dutch driver will share the #7 Toyota GR010 HYBRID with Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway.
This will be De Vries’ first full campaign in the WEC since his stint at the Racing Team Nederland LMP2 team during the 2019/20 season.
The addition of De Vries to the Toyota lineup marks the first driver change in the team since Ryo Hirakawa joined the #8 LMH car in 2022. Hirakawa’s arrival came after Kazuki Nakajima’s decision to retire from racing and transition into a managerial role within the team.
De Vries brings a wealth of experience to the Toyota team. He has previously competed in Formula 2, winning the championship in 2019, and has also made appearances in Formula E.
The 2024 WEC season promises to be an exciting one, with Toyota aiming to defend its title as reigning champions. The team will face tough competition from other manufacturers such as Porsche and Audi, who are set to debut their new Le Mans Hypercars.
With his skills and determination, De Vries is expected to make a significant contribution to Toyota’s campaign. His familiarity with endurance racing, combined with the expertise of Kobayashi and Conway, will create a formidable trio behind the wheel of the #7 Toyota GR010 HYBRID.
As the start of the season approaches, fans and experts alike eagerly anticipate the battles that will unfold on the track. The WEC continues to captivate motorsport enthusiasts around the world, and the addition of De Vries to the Toyota team adds an extra layer of excitement to the upcoming season.
