Zalužani is Bosnia and Herzegovina's only permanent motor racing circuit, laid out on the grounds of a former military training centre in the village of Zalužani just north of Banja Luka. The 3.251 km lap was shortened from its original configuration by a 1998 reprofiling of turn 9, and the surface and safety infrastructure, including pit lane and tyre barriers, were updated again in 2008. It remains a fairly basic, old-school facility by modern circuit standards, reflecting its origins as a repurposed military site rather than a purpose-built racetrack.

Events and race weekends

Zalužani has long hosted local and regional car and motorcycle racing, and it has hosted FIA Central European Zone (CEZ) Circuit Championship rounds (though not in 2025 or 2026), drawing entries from across the Balkans and neighbouring countries. In the mid-2000s the circuit also attracted former British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and Super Touring Cup machinery for demonstration and club racing. Most of the calendar remains domestic Bosnian and regional club racing rather than major international series.

Getting there and parking

The circuit is in Zalužani village just north of Banja Luka, the largest city in Republika Srpska. Banja Luka International Airport is about 20 minutes' drive away, making it the most convenient gateway for visitors. There is no direct rail link to the circuit.

There is occasionally the possibility of driving a road car on the circuit outside of competition, though Zalužani does not run a formal, widely advertised public track day programme in the way larger Western European circuits do.

Built on a military site

Moto Staza Zalužani opened in the late 1980s on the grounds of a former military training centre in the village of Zalužani, just north of Banja Luka, in what was then the Yugoslav republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The circuit was fairly primitive in its earliest years, serving local car and motorcycle racing in the final years before the country's breakup.

War and postwar revival

Racing at Zalužani halted with the outbreak of the Bosnian War in 1992, and the circuit lay dormant through the conflict. It reopened in 1998 with a reprofiled turn 9 that shortened the lap to its current 3.251 km, part of a broader effort to bring the facility back into regular use as the region rebuilt in the years after the war.

Regional circuit today

A further round of upgrades in 2008 resurfaced the track and added a modern pit lane and tyre barriers, bringing Zalužani closer to contemporary safety standards and allowing it to join the FIA Central European Zone Circuit Championship calendar. Today it remains Bosnia and Herzegovina's only permanent racing circuit, hosting a mix of domestic and regional club racing and occasional demonstration or touring car events.
