Ernst Christ is the real father of the Hockenheimring: In 1930 the young assistant timekeeper envisaged the plan to found a race track in his hometown. Hockenheim’s Mayor Philipp Klein was won over to the project. On December 25, 1931, the local council unanimously approved the racetrack template. Extensive construction work began on March 23, 1932. And just two months later, the “1. Motorcycle racing ”in Hockenheim on May 29th, 1932 a dream come true. A rise began for the small town that would make its name known all over the world.
