Gasly Helps Alpine Surpass Expectations

While Daniel Ricciardo qualified a surprise fourth, his former teammate Pierre Gasly found himself down in 11th place on the grid for Sunday’s race. Meanwhile, Gasly’s current teammate Esteban Ocon struggled even more, only managing a 16th place finish in Q1.

Gasly, who has previously raced for Toro Rosso/AlphaTauri five times in Mexico City from 2017 to 2022, achieving a career-best position of fourth two years ago, has revealed that he provided Alpine with key insights into the tricks employed by AlphaTauri at the Mexican Grand Prix.

Gasly’s knowledge and experience have allowed Alpine to adapt their strategy and setup, resulting in a shock performance during qualifying. The team managed to secure a surprising fourth place on the grid with Ricciardo.

The unexpected outcome has left Gasly contemplating the impact of their information-sharing collaboration with Alpine. Despite finishing outside the top ten in qualifying, Gasly’s contribution may have indirectly enabled his team to achieve a stronger position.

Moving forward, Gasly and the Alpine team will be closely monitoring their performance in the race, eager to see if their shared insights will continue to pay dividends.
