Formula E's Santiago ePrix used two different temporary street layouts across three seasons. The inaugural 2018 race ran a 2.461 km, 12-turn, clockwise circuit along Santa María Avenue, crossing the Mapocho River and looping through Parque Forestal before returning to Santa María Avenue. After Santiago's mayor withdrew authorisation to race through Parque Forestal, the event moved in 2019 to a new layout inside Parque O'Higgins, circling the Movistar Arena on park roads; that circuit measured 2.348 km with 14 turns in 2019, then was revised to 2.287 km with 11 turns for 2020, removing a tight back-straight chicane, relocating the pit lane and reversing a zig-zag section.

Events and race weekends

The Santiago ePrix ran for three consecutive Formula E seasons, from the series' South American debut in February 2018 through races in 2019 and 2020. Sam Bird won both the 2018 and 2019 races, and Maximilian Günther won in 2020. No Formula E race, or other motorsport event, has been held in Santiago since the 2020 running, and neither the Parque Forestal nor the Parque O'Higgins layouts remain laid out on the streets.

Getting there and parking

Both former circuit sites, Parque Forestal and Parque O'Higgins, are inner-city Santiago parks well served by the capital's Metro network and easily reached by taxi or rideshare from anywhere in the city; there is no circuit infrastructure left to visit.

There is nothing left to see of either former circuit; Parque O'Higgins and Parque Forestal are best visited today simply as central Santiago public parks.

Both former circuit locations sit within central Santiago, one of South America's best-connected capitals for hotels, with extensive accommodation across neighbourhoods such as Providencia, Las Condes, Santiago Centro and Bellavista, all a short Metro or taxi ride from either park.

There is no track-day or ride access of any kind; both layouts were temporary street circuits used only for the Santiago ePrix and dismantled after each event, with no permanent racing facility ever built in either park.

There is no event to attend and no spectator infrastructure remaining from any of the three Santiago ePrix races; Parque Forestal and Parque O'Higgins today function as ordinary central Santiago public parks, both popular for walking and recreation.

History of Santiago Street Circuit

Formula E arrives in South America

Formula E brought its first South American race to Santiago in February 2018, laying out a temporary 2.461 km circuit along Santa María Avenue that crossed the Mapocho River and looped through the leafy Parque Forestal. Construction reportedly finished barely a day before the race itself. Sam Bird won the inaugural event, but the Parque Forestal section of the route proved controversial locally, and Santiago's mayor subsequently withdrew authorisation for racing to run through that park again.

Moving to Parque O'Higgins

Formula E relocated the event for 2019 to a new circuit inside Parque O'Higgins, a large park south of the city centre, circling the Movistar Arena on the park's internal roads. This 2.348 km, 14-turn layout hosted Sam Bird to a second consecutive Santiago win. For 2020 the circuit was revised, shortened to 2.287 km with 11 turns after removing a tight chicane on the back straight, relocating the pit lane and reversing a zig-zag sequence; Maximilian Günther won that race, with Oliver Rowland setting the layout's fastest lap.

Dropped from the calendar

The 2020 Santiago ePrix, held in January, was Formula E's last race in Chile. The following 2020-21 season was heavily disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and compressed into a run of European and Middle Eastern venues, and Santiago was not included when the calendar expanded again in later seasons; no official reason for the city's continued absence has been widely publicised. Both the Parque Forestal and Parque O'Higgins layouts were always temporary street circuits, and neither remains laid out today.
