GT Omega Prime Lite vs Trak Racer TR80S

Head-to-head · Updated 19 October 2026 · Based on 45 owner posts and reviews

The GT Omega PRIME Lite and the Trak Racer TR80S are both 80 x 40 mm aluminium profile rigs aimed at racers stepping up from a folding seat or wheel stand. The PRIME Lite is $719.95 on gtomega.com. The TR80S is $499 on trakracer.com.

Both picks are owner-reported. The PRIME Lite pick is built from 40 verified-purchase reviews on gtomega.com. The TR80S pick is built from 5 verified-buyer reviews on trakracer.com. Price, stock and specs come from the same brand pages, checked on 19 October 2026. Nothing here comes from hands-on testing.

This page replaces the older GT Omega Prime against Trak Racer TR80 matchup. The full GT Omega PRIME Cockpit showed every variant as sold out on gtomega.com on 19 October, so the PRIME Lite is used here. Trak Racer's current model is the TR80S, shown as TR80S V6 in its description. GT Omega is a UK store: prices appear in US dollars, orders ship to the contiguous US from Glasgow, and return shipping is paid by the customer.

The short answer

Reviewers on both stores call these rigs rigid. The TR80S is $220 cheaper, comes with a formula and GT hybrid pedal plate and a Trak Racer chart rating of 0 to 16 Nm. The PRIME Lite includes a shifter mount and has no published torque rating. Assembly is the common complaint on both.

Choose the PRIME Lite if you want a shifter mount included and verified buyers reporting no flex with 8 Nm bases and load cell pedals, and you accept shipping from Scotland and paying return shipping.

Choose the TR80S if you want the lower $499 price, a published 0 to 16 Nm rating and the hybrid pedal plate, and you are prepared for a slow build.

Price and what you get

The TR80S is $499 and the PRIME Lite is $719.95. The PRIME Lite includes a shifter mount that moves horizontally, vertically and from left to right. Trak Racer lists the TR80S shifter mount as optional. The TR80S includes a formula and GT hybrid pedal plate. Neither rig includes a seat.

GT Omega's page shows the price in US dollars from a UK store and says orders ship to the contiguous US from Glasgow, with the customer paying return shipping. One PRIME Lite reviewer says international shipping to the US took about a week and all fees were included in the shipping cost.

Frame and torque

Both frames use 80 x 40 mm aluminium profile. Trak Racer says its profile walls are thicker than the competition and its chart rates the TR80S for 0 to 16 Nm. GT Omega publishes no torque rating for the PRIME Lite but lists a 200 kg driver weight limit and up to 205 cm height.

Reviewers on both stores report rigid frames with real load. PRIME Lite buyers cite a Fanatec 8 Nm base with load cell pedals, a Logitech RS50, a Moza R12 V2, a Simagic Alpha Evo Pro with P1000 pedals, and a 140 kg driver with no give. TR80S buyers cite 9 Nm and 12 Nm bases and one reports no flex even with a 150 kg load cell.

Assembly and parts

Assembly is the repeated complaint. PRIME Lite reviewers say the instructions are vague in places, one spent four hours building and another hour fitting pedals and wheel, and another took seven to ten hours. TR80S reviewers say assembly was very hard, ask for patience and videos, and one says bolts strip if overtightened though spares were included.

Both brands get praise for service. PRIME Lite reviewers praise GT Omega's customer service several times, and three report missing parts or split deliveries that were resolved. A TR80S reviewer says the stock wheel mount has play and that Trak Racer's $40 accessory mount fixed it.

Pedals, shifters and fit

Two PRIME Lite reviewers drilled new holes in the pedal plate for their pedals: one for Moza R5 pedals and another for Simjack pedals. One PRIME Lite reviewer fitted Moza CRP2 pedals and says they fit well. Trak Racer lists the TR80S as pre-drilled for all major pedal brands, with the option to mount pedals straight to the profile.

The TR80S has a reclined position by design. One TR80S reviewer who usually sits upright had to buy extra parts to raise the seat and then found it very comfortable.

GT Omega PRIME Lite Cockpit

$719.95

GT Omega's low-profile aluminium rig is a lighter take on its PRIME cockpit, with a wheel deck, an adjustable pedal tray and a shifter mount in the package. Verified buyers on gtomega.com, many with 8 Nm Fanatec or Logitech bases and load cell pedals, describe it as sturdy with no flex. The complaints are vague instructions, long builds and some drilling for pedal plates.

Sturdy, satisfying to build , holds my 9nm wheelbase, no flex at all even with a 150kg load cell

However it was very hard to assemble it properly and if you don't have experience in assembly then you will have a very tough time.
