Red Bull’s Perez Eliminated in Qatar Sprint Race
The Mexican driver, Sergio Perez, faced disappointment during the Saturday sprint race at the Losail circuit when he was eliminated on lap 10 of 19. This unfortunate event not only ended his race but also confirmed his teammate, Max Verstappen, as a three-time world champion.
The incident occurred when Esteban Ocon attempted to overtake Nico Hulkenberg from the inside. Unfortunately, Ocon was unable to spot Perez’s car on the far right and therefore did not provide enough space for him. Consequently, a three-car collision took place, causing both Ocon and Perez to end up in the gravel.
This unexpected turn of events resulted in significant consequences for Perez. Red Bull Racing now faces the challenge of rebuilding Perez’s Formula 1 car, which breaches the regulations. As a result, Perez is set to receive a heavy penalty for the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix.
The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of motorsport, where split-second decisions can lead to unfortunate outcomes. In this case, a minor misjudgment led to a chain reaction of events that disrupted the race for multiple drivers.
