Moza R5 vs Logitech G29

Head-to-head · Updated 19 October 2026 · Based on 110 owner posts and reviews

People who search for this matchup are usually weighing a $230 gear-driven wheel against a $379 direct drive bundle. On Moza's and Logitech's US stores today, the gap is about $150. The harder question is which console or PC you own, because the two wheels do not cover the same platforms.

We cannot hands-on test wheels. This page is built from what owners report on GTPlanet and in verified-buyer reviews on Moza's US store and PB Tech, plus the specs, prices and compatibility on the brand pages as of 19 October 2026. Where the evidence is thin we say so.

We can’t test everything, so each pick is labelled with where the evidence comes from. How we research and test. Some links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you (disclosure).

The short answer

If you race on PC, the R5 bundle is the better wheel and owners who came from a G29 describe a large step up in smoothness, quietness and detail. If you race on PlayStation, the G29 is the only one of the two that works, and Moza has only announced (July 2026, no date) a PlayStation wheel in development. The R5's included pedals are its weak point, so budget for an upgrade.

Choose the Moza R5 if you play on PC, can spend $379 (sale price, list $599), and will mount it to a stand or rigid desk. Plan on a brake upgrade or load cell pedals within the first few months.

Choose the Logitech G29 if you play on PS5 or PS4, or if $229.99 is your ceiling. Expect a louder wheel with modest force and very little room to upgrade.

Platforms decide this first

Moza's page lists the R5 bundle for PC only. A GTPlanet moderator told a G29 owner in March 2025 that Moza gear does not run natively on PS4 or PS5 and pointed to a third-party adaptor. A GTPlanet poster who tried their brother's R5 with a Ras1lution adaptor on PS5 found Gran Turismo 7 gave almost no kerb feedback, put part of that down to the game, then bought a Logitech G923 and returned the adaptor.

The G29 is the PlayStation and PC model. Logitech sells the G920 for Xbox and PC on the same page. In July 2026 Polyphony Digital said Moza is developing a wheel that GT7 will support natively. The announcement gave no price or release window, so do not plan a purchase around it.

Force feedback and noise

Owners who moved from a G29, G920 or G923 to the R5 repeat the same points: the wheel is smoother, close to silent and gives more detail. Typical store reviews say the difference is large and that they would not go back. One reviewer who came from a G923 wrote that they can let go and catch the wheel while the tyres follow the road. These are store reviews from people who bought the product, so they skew positive.

G29 owners are consistent about the other side. The gear drive makes a lot of noise, gets louder when you turn quickly, and the force is on the weak side. Several say lowering force in the game settings quiets it. Others do not mind it and call it good enough for casual racing.

Pedals: neither set impresses

R5 owners are the most critical here. The SR-P Lite pedals feel light, the brake has little resistance, and they slide on the floor unless fixed to something. Many owners add a brake performance kit, and one owner who compared sets said the R5 pedals are worse than the G29's. Moza's page shows SRP2 load cell pedals at $149 if you want to replace them.

G29 owners describe the pedals as well built for the price, with the usual caveat that they use older sensors. A few report needing to clean or replace pedal contacts. One GTPlanet poster says Logitech sells an adapter that lets a G29 use its Pro load cell pedals, and another notes that those pedals alone cost more than a G29 does.

Upgrade path and total cost

The R5 base takes Moza's other wheel rims, shifters, handbrakes and pedals, and owners rate that ecosystem as a reason to buy. Add $149 for SRP2 pedals and the R5 setup is about $528 at today's sale prices. That is more than double the G29, so the decision depends on whether you will use the extra force and the upgrades.

G29 owners who outgrow it tend to leave the brand. A G29 owner of about four years asked GTPlanet in June 2026 for a direct drive wheel with force feedback pedals around $500. A former G29 owner wrote in 2018 that it was a great wheel but has no removable rim and no load cell brake.

Setup, mounting and durability

The R5 needs a firm mount. Several owners say it shakes a desk at higher force, and a few say the base runs hot in long sessions. A few also hit game support gaps, for example Nascar 25 and Automobilista 2, that took extra settings work.

G29 owners report long service lives of five to seven years, and a few report early faults such as a dead paddle or a flashing light that blocked calibration. The mix is typical for a wheel that has been sold for years.

Moza R5 Racing Bundle

$379

A compact 5.5 Nm direct drive base with a small round wheel and a basic two-pedal set. Owners moving up from Logitech G920, G923 and G29 wheels describe the base as smooth, quiet and far more detailed. The pedals are the part most owners replace or modify.

What owners report · from 80 owner posts and reviews we read

  • Much smoother and quieter than a gear-driven Logitech (many owners, including G920, G923 and G29 upgraders)
  • Pit House app lets you tune force and save profiles per game (several owners)
  • Base accepts Moza's other rims, shifters, handbrakes and pedals (several owners)
  • 5.5 Nm is enough for a desk setup, and strong enough to shake a desk (several owners)
  • Stock SR-P Lite pedals feel light, have little brake resistance and slide unless mounted (many owners)
  • Needs a stand or rigid mount, because the base shakes desks and the pedals move (several owners)
  • The included ES wheel is small (several owners)
  • Some games need extra setup, for example Nascar 25 and Automobilista 2 (a few owners)
  • Base gets hot after long sessions (a few owners)

Upgraded from a g920 to the R5 and I’m a fan for life. The only issue is my quick release gets very tight and has trouble removing the wheel.

Had a few T300 in the past and this is miles ahead in terms of quality, feel of force feedback, and how quiet it is!

Logitech G29 Driving Force

$229.99
Owner-reportedPS5, PS4, PC (G29). The Xbox and PC version is the G920.

The long-running entry wheel for PlayStation and PC. Owners report it works out of the box, lasts for years and is cheap, and they also report a loud gear drive, modest force and almost no upgrade path.

What owners report · from 30 owner posts and reviews we read

  • Lasts: several owners report 5 to 7 years of regular use
  • Cheap and complete, with wheel, pedals and paddles in one box (several owners)
  • Strong value when discounted (several owners)
  • Gear drive is loud, louder when you turn quickly or run high force (many owners)
  • Force is weak next to direct drive (several owners)
  • Pedal sensors and paddle switches can fail or need cleaning (a few owners)

The strength of the wheel is on the weak side and it makes a lot of noise, but you can alleviate that with the in-game settings

G29 - bulletproof for about 7 years, I have no clue how mine is still going only had an issue when the power supply cable went

Questions buyers ask

Does the Moza R5 work on PS5?+

Moza's US page lists the R5 bundle for PC only. A GTPlanet moderator said Moza gear does not run natively on PS4 or PS5. In July 2026 Moza was announced as developing a PlayStation-compatible wheel with Gran Turismo, with no release date.

Is the Logitech G29 still sold?+

Yes. Logitech's US store lists the G29 at $229.99 (list $299.99) as of 19 October 2026, with an Add to cart button. The Xbox and PC version on the same page is the G920.

Is the R5 worth $149 more than the G29?+

For PC racers, owners who moved from Logitech wheels say yes. For PlayStation players the question does not arise, because the R5 is not a PlayStation wheel.

Is 5.5 Nm enough?+

Most R5 owners who mention it say yes for a desk or entry rig with the stock small wheel. A GTPlanet owner said they wish they had bought the larger R9 because bigger rims need more torque.

Do I need a stand for the R5?+

Owners say a stand or rigid desk helps a lot. Several report the base shaking a desk and the pedals sliding, even with the table clamp.

Can I upgrade the pedals?+

On the R5, yes. Moza lists SRP2 load cell pedals at $149 and brake performance kits. The G29's pedals are harder to replace.
