Next Level Racing F-GT Lite vs Playseat Challenge X
Head-to-head · Updated 19 October 2026
The Next Level Racing F-GT Lite and the Playseat Challenge X are the two folding cockpits people compare most often for a first wheel and pedals. Both cost about $300 in the US right now. Both are light enough to carry.
Both picks on this page are spec-checked. Price, stock, size, weight, driver limits and compatibility come from the brand pages and the Logitech G store, checked on 19 October 2026. Neither seat had five or more owner reviews that could be opened and checked directly, so there is no owner-reported verdict here. Nothing comes from hands-on testing.
A note on price: the Challenge X sold in the US is the Logitech G Edition. Playseat's own US store listed it at $349 and showed it as sold out on 19 October. The $299.99 here is the in-stock price on the Logitech G store.

The short answer
On paper the Challenge X is the lighter and faster-folding seat (11.6 kg, stored in about 10 seconds by Playseat's claim) and fits taller drivers (to 220 cm). The F-GT Lite is heavier (19 kg) but gives a formula or GT position and a shifter plate on the frame. Neither brand publishes a wheelbase torque rating, so treat both as light-duty seats for belt, gear and entry direct drive wheels.
Choose the F-GT Lite if you want a formula or GT seating position, accept a bigger frame (175 cm long in GT mode, 75 x 40 x 87 cm folded) and want a shifter mount included.
Choose the Challenge X if you will fold the seat after every session, race on a console, and want the lighter, more compact option. Check the 120 kg driver weight limit.

Folding and storage
Playseat says the Challenge X sets up and stores in about 10 seconds with the wheel and pedals attached, and lists it at 11.6 kg. Next Level Racing says the F-GT Lite folds with electronics installed, to 75 x 40 x 87 cm, and lists it at 19 kg.
Playseat does not publish a folded size for the Challenge X, so the storage footprint cannot be compared directly. The 7.4 kg weight gap is the clearest difference if you will carry the seat between rooms.
Torque, load cell pedals and what the brands say
Neither brand publishes a wheelbase torque rating for these two seats. Next Level Racing rates its GTLite Pro, a different model, for entry-level direct drive up to 13 Nm. That is the nearest brand-stated figure in the folding range and it does not apply to the F-GT Lite.
Both pages claim broad pedal and wheel compatibility, and neither rates the pedal plate for a stiff load cell brake. Check the brand's current guidance before you pair either seat with a base above about 8 Nm.
Fit, seating position and shifter
The F-GT Lite lists 120 to 200 cm and up to 130 kg. The Challenge X lists 120 to 220 cm and up to 120 kg. Taller drivers get more headroom on paper with the Challenge X. Heavier drivers get 10 kg more on the F-GT Lite.
The F-GT Lite offers two positions, GT and formula, and a shifter mount in the box that fits either side. Playseat lists GT, rally and F1 positions through six reclining settings and a gearshift support. Playseat's backrest and seat firmness adjust with Velcro straps.
Price, stock and upgrade path
The F-GT Lite is $299 and in stock on nextlevelracing.com. The Challenge X is $299.99 and in stock at the Logitech G store. Playseat's US store lists it at $349 and showed it sold out, so buy from a store with live stock.
If you outgrow a folding seat, the brands point in different directions. Next Level Racing sells the GTLite Pro at $299, rated for entry-level direct drive up to 13 Nm. Playseat sells the Trophy as a fixed frame. See the GTLite Pro against Trophy comparison for that step.
