How Much Does a Track Day Cost?

Track day guide · Updated 19 October 2026

At the US organisers whose pages I read, a single day with your own car runs from $150 to $599 in entry fees, with premium operators charging more. In the UK, MSV Trackdays' listings start at £189 to £295 for general days at the circuits it showed. Entry is the visible part of the cost. Tires, brake pads and fluid, fuel, a helmet, insurance and travel add further costs.

Every price on this page comes from an organiser, manufacturer or retailer page that is listed in the sources, and was collected in October 2026. Many of the events in the tables have already run, so treat them as a guide to what each organiser charged this season. Where an organiser did not publish a price on a page I could read, the table says so.

Rules, prices and cover change. Every rule and price here links to its source; check your organiser’s current rules before you go. How we research.

The short answer

Using the published prices in this page: a US club or organiser day costs between $150 (SCCA Track Night in America at Thunderhill, for members) and $599 (Hooked on Driving's intermediate and advanced day at The Ridge). Premium operators go higher, for example Private Driving Events at $1,000 per day and 6th Gear at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park from CA$800. In the UK, MSV's listed general days run from £189 at Cadwell Park to £295 at Donington Park, and Goodwood's track day prices run from £199 for a half day to £499 for a full day on a 105dB day. In Australia, Performance Driving Events' open pitlane day at Baskerville is A$229.

Lockton Motorsports, which runs a track day insurance programme, estimated in a May 2023 article that a US track day costs $300 to $3,000 in total. That is Lockton's estimate for the whole event and not an organiser price. Its breakdown (registration about $200 to $500 per day, consumables about $300 per day, insurance $150 to $500 per event, travel and accommodation $200 or more) is quoted below where it fills a gap in the published prices.

Entry fees: United States and Canada

The first table lists published 2026 entry fees by organiser and track. Prices differ by event and by whether you are a novice. Hooked on Driving charged $549 for a novice at Watkins Glen, which it says includes coaching and classroom, against $499 for intermediate and advanced drivers. NASA Utah priced a single HPDE day at $349 early and $379 after 27 September for its 2 to 4 October event, with a two-day price of $599 early or $639 standard.

Multi-day entries are cheaper per day. At that NASA Utah event, two days at the early price cost $599 against $698 for two single days, and the standard-price two-day entry cost $639 against $758. Early registration also saves money: NASA Northwest's page says prices on the day of the event carry an additional $50 fee.

Memberships can sit on top. NASA Northwest's page states a $79 yearly NASA membership. Chin Track Days charges a $50 membership for a 13-month term and $95 per day for an additional car. Its VIR event pages for 16 to 17 November 2026 listed $749 for two days (plus a $100 novice coaching fee) or $399 for one day (solo drivers only). SCCA Track Night in America at The Ridge asks non-members to add a $25 weekend membership. Hooked on Driving's FAQ says membership requirements ended as of 2026.

Entry fees: UK, Europe, South Africa and Australia

MSV Trackdays' homepage listed general track days from £189 (Cadwell Park, 31 October) to £295 (Donington Park, 25 October). The page shows only starting prices, so the final price can differ. MSV's FAQ adds that static noise tests are free and that driver instruction can be added for £25 per session. Javelin Trackdays' FAQ lists instruction at £25 for a 20-minute session. Goodwood's track day price includes a noise test, a briefing, a buffet lunch and tea and coffee, and the page says a helmet is provided if you need one.

In continental Europe, Skylimit Events listed Circuit Zolder from €140 and Petrolhead Days listed an instructor-led day from €595. ACI Vallelunga's open-session pages showed cars from €35 and motorcycles from €180, and GEDLICH Racing's two-day open pitlane event at Estoril was €3,490 plus VAT for one car. In South Africa, Western Province Motor Club listed R850 for cars and R650 for motorcycles at Killarney, and Zwartkops listed R700.

In Australia, Performance Driving Events lists A$229 at Baskerville Raceway for an open-pitlane day with unlimited laps, A$220 for 1:1 coaching and A$20 per passenger, and requires an AASA licence or day licence. One Raceway's timed day at Wakefield on 11 April 2026 was A$325 and included a timing transponder for the day. Baskerville's page requires you to bring your own helmet that meets Australian standards, and One Raceway's page requires AS/NZS 1698.

Arrive-and-drive, ride-along and kart prices

If you do not have a track car, the second table lists the experience products I found with a published starting price. They are priced for a short run of laps in the provider's car, and the prices are 'from' prices. Ride-along tickets, where a driver takes you around, are the cheapest way to see a circuit at speed: $49.99 for NASCAR Racing Experience's Red Rocket multi-seat car (its stock car ride-alongs start at $157.99) and $79 with Xtreme Xperience, both at Charlotte, and from $193.99 at Daytona.

Karts are the least expensive way to drive on a circuit site: Ridge Motorsports Park's karting page starts at $34 a race for non-members plus a helmet rental fee, and Mosport Karting Centre's mandatory Rookie Training costs CA$124.99 plus HST for new members (CA$85 plus HST for returning members). Single-seater and supercar drives cost more, for example €750 excluding VAT for an electric Formula 4 car at Zolder and €141 for a supercar drive at Vallelunga.

These are not the same product as an HPDE or track day. At an arrive-and-drive you drive the provider's vehicle, so you do not carry the cost of tires, brakes or transport, and the provider sets the rules for the session.

Extras that sit on top of the entry fee

These are the add-ons that appeared on the organiser pages I read. Check the event page you plan to book, because each organiser charges differently.

  • Instruction: Turn2 charges $300 for a dedicated instructor for the day or $50 per session. Hooked on Driving charged $75 for a coaching session and $249 for half-day head coach coaching at The Ridge. Performance Driving Events charges A$220 for 1:1 coaching.
  • Second driver: Hooked on Driving listed an additional driver at $199 at The Ridge. Chin Track Days charges $95 per day for an additional car.
  • Garage: Hooked on Driving's Watkins Glen registration lists a half-bay garage for all three days at $200. NASA Northeast's Watkins Glen page listed a 3-day garage at $199 and said garages were sold out.
  • Helmet rental: $25 per day at MassTuning TrackFest and $50 per day (with balaclava) at Hooked on Driving.
  • Facility damage waiver: Hooked on Driving listed a Track Damage Defense Waiver that covers the first $1,000 of facility damage at $100 per day or $150 for all event days.
  • Cancellation: Hooked on Driving forfeits all event fees at 10 days or less, Chin Track Days gives no refund or credit within 9 days, and WDCR credits a cancelled entry less a $200 fee once your card is charged two days before the event. Read the terms before you pay.

Consumables: brakes, fluid, tires and fuel

Wear depends on your car, your driving and the track, so the prices below show what the parts cost and not how many days they last. Lockton's May 2023 article put consumables (fuel, fluids, brakes and tires) at an average of about $300 per track day and typical repairs at $300 to $750 each. That is Lockton's estimate.

Hooked on Driving's FAQ gives a pre-track checklist that shows what organisers expect: brake pads with at least 50% remaining, tires with about 50% wear remaining and lug nuts torqued to spec. Check your own organiser's inspection rules.

Examples with prices: Hawk DTC-60 motorsports front pads on Hawk's own site were $253.99 for part HB910G.590 (listed for 2015 to 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and several Cadillac models) and $284.99 for part HB366G.681 (listed for 1999 to 2010 Honda Accord and 2003 to 2010 Acura TSX among others). Pads are fitment-specific. For fluid, Motul RBF 600 DOT 4 brake fluid in a 500 ml bottle was $23.58 at Subimods, reduced from $26.20. For tires, the Hankook Ventus R-S4 in 255/40ZR17 was listed with a Tire Rack price of $225.27 per tire on tiresize.com, which is $901.08 for four.

Fuel depends on your car and your tank. On 18 October 2026 AAA's national average was $4.2988 per gallon for regular and $5.2049 for premium. Multiply by the gallons you burn, which this page does not estimate.

Gear and insurance

Helmets are the first gear cost. Hooked on Driving's FAQ requires an auto racing helmet with a Snell SA rating within 10 years of the event date, and a DOT rating does not qualify, but its 2026 event pages, including the Watkins Glen event in the worked example, require Snell SA2020 or newer. Chin Track Days requires Snell SA or FIA. Goodwood supplies a helmet if you need one, while Baskerville's page says helmets are not available on the day. Lockton's 2023 article says helmets cost around $250 and up, which is its estimate. Organisers' gear rules vary, so confirm yours. For picks, see our guides to racing helmets, head and neck restraints, suits, shoes and gloves, and for motorcycles, race suits and airbag vests.

Insurance is separate from the entry fee. Lockton estimates $150 to $500 per event for a US policy. In the UK, Confused.com says entry-level single-day cover can start from around £60 for low-value cars and that insurers often charge roughly 1% of the car's value. Hagerty's Track Day Endorsement was $150 per vehicle per year in SCCA's April 2026 article. MSV does not require insurance. Our insurance guide covers what policies cover and exclude, and does not give personal advice.

Travel, hotel and garage

Lockton's 2023 article puts travel and accommodation at $200 or more, a garage at about $250, RV parking at about $100 and an on-grounds campsite at about $50. These are its estimates and not prices from a circuit. For specific circuits, the organisers' pages above list garage and camping fees, and hotel prices change by date and circuit town, so this page does not quote any.

Our track guides cover each circuit's layout and what is nearby: Watkins Glen International, Summit Point Motorsports Park, The Ridge Motorsports Park, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Daytona International Speedway. For circuits in Canada and Australia, start from the Canada and Australasia hubs.

Worked example budget (example only)

This is an example built from the cited prices above. It is not a quote and not typical for every car or track. It assumes a first-time novice, one day at Hooked on Driving's Watkins Glen event, renting a helmet, buying the facility damage waiver and buying a one-day insurance policy. Insurance, consumables and travel use Lockton's May 2023 estimates, which are the only dollar figures I found for them, and fuel and the tow vehicle are left out.

  • Entry, novice day (coaching and classroom included): $549
  • Helmet rental with balaclava: $50
  • Track Damage Defense Waiver: $100
  • Subtotal for the event itself: $699
  • Track day insurance: $150 to $500 (Lockton's estimate), giving $849 to $1,199
  • Consumables: about $300 (Lockton's average), giving $1,149 to $1,499
  • Travel and accommodation: $200 or more (Lockton), giving a total of $1,349 to $1,699 or more
  • Not included: fuel (AAA regular was $4.2988 per gallon on 18 Oct 2026), meals, a garage ($200 for three days at the same event), and any repairs or a new tire set ($901.08 for four of the tire example above)

Questions buyers ask

How much is a track day?+

At the US organisers checked for this page, a single day costs from $150 to $599, with Private Driving Events at $1,000 per day. MSV's UK listings start from £189 to £295, Goodwood's run £199 to £499, and Performance Driving Events lists A$229 at Baskerville. Entry fees exclude gear, insurance, consumables and travel.

How much does an HPDE cost?+

NASA Utah's 2 to 4 October 2026 event listed HPDE at $349 early or $379 for a single day and $599 or $639 for two days. Hooked on Driving listed $499 for intermediate and advanced groups and $549 for novices at Watkins Glen. Prices vary by region, track and organiser, so check the event page.

Do I need to be a member to attend?+

It depends on the organiser. NASA Northwest's page states a $79 yearly membership. Chin Track Days charges $50 for 13 months. SCCA Track Night in America at The Ridge asks non-members to add a $25 weekend membership. Hooked on Driving's FAQ says membership requirements ended as of 2026.

What do consumables cost per track day?+

It varies by car. Lockton's May 2023 article estimates about $300 per day across fuel, fluids, brakes and tires. The page lists example part prices: Hawk DTC-60 front pads at $253.99 or $284.99 for the fitments shown, Motul RBF 600 at $23.58 for 500 ml, and Hankook Ventus R-S4 tires listed at $225.27 each in one size.

Is an arrive-and-drive cheaper than taking my own car?+

The headline price can be lower, but the products differ. Ride-alongs start at $49.99, kart sessions at $34 or CA$85, and driving experiences from $279 to $436.99 in the US. You do not pay for tires or transport, and you get fewer laps and less choice of vehicle than an HPDE with your own car.

What is the cheapest way to try a track?+

Among the published prices, the lowest were kart sessions at $34 (Ridge Motorsports Park), an MSV taster session of 20 minutes for £35, 2Fast's Intro to Trackday from $100 and SCCA Track Night in America from $150 for members (Thunderhill, 22 October 2026). These are formats and entry points, and none replaces the organiser's own requirements for your car and gear.
