Best Motorcycle Tire Warmers

6 picksUpdated 19 October 2026Based on 82 owner posts and reviews

Tire warmers wrap around the tire and bring it up to a set temperature before you ride. This guide covers six sets on sale in the US on 19 October 2026, how fixed and adjustable sets differ, and what tire makers say about whether you need them.

Three picks are owner-reported, built from reviews we opened and read, almost all from Sportbike Track Gear (STG). STG sells these sets, and one of them carries STG's own name, so the sample is not independent. The other three are spec-checked: prices, sizes and features from the maker's page, with too few owner reviews to rate.

Suzuka is not listed because we found no current Suzuka product page we could read. Thermal Technology, a name that came up in our search, makes industrial furnaces. We could not find a working Bike-Lift storefront.

The 6 picks

1. Best budget tire warmers

STG Single Temp Tire Warmers

Owner-reported
$329.95

A fixed-temperature set sold under the retailer's own name and, per the retailer, made by Chicken Hawk. It is the cheapest new set in this guide and the one with the most owner reviews. Owners describe quick heat-up, a good fit on 190 and 200 rear tires and a first set that lasted several seasons. This is the retailer's own brand, so weigh the praise with that in mind.

What owners report · from 46 owner posts and reviews we read

  • Heat up in roughly 25 to 40 minutes per owner reports (several owners)
  • Fit 190 and 200 section rear tires with room to spare, or with some overlap on a 180 (several owners)
  • Good value against Woodcraft and Capit (several owners)
  • One owner reports a third season on the same set, with no tears or burn marks
  • No on/off switch, so you must unplug them (three owners)
  • Some overlapping fabric on 180 rear tires (two owners)
  • Front warmer failed in under 2 seasons (one owner)
  • Did not reach temperature in 35 mph winds with no wind cover (one owner, 2017)

Only bad thing is there no ON/OFF button so you have to unplug them when you hit the track.

the front warmer no longer works after less than 2 seasons.

Track-day riders on a budget who want warm tires for the first lap and do not need an adjustable temperature.
Worth knowing
No on/off switch. Owners unplug the warmers to turn them off. Some owners with a 180 or larger rear report overlap in the fabric, and one reports a failed front warmer within two seasons.

2. Best two-setting warmers

Woodcraft Gen III Dual Temp Tire Warmers

Owner-reported
$459.99

Woodcraft's dual-temp set has a Warm setting for the gaps between sessions and a Hot setting for going out. The part owners like most is the quick disconnect, which switches the warmer off when you pull it off the tire. Two owners report long service, about 100 track days on a used first set and eight years of use. Most reviews praise the build, and failures are few.

What owners report · from 25 owner posts and reviews we read

  • Well made, good stitching and wiring (many owners)
  • Quick disconnect shuts power off when the warmer comes off (several owners)
  • Warm and Hot settings suit going from session to session (several owners)
  • Side curtains help hold heat (several owners)
  • Long service: one owner reports about 100 track days on a used first set, another eight years
  • Quick-disconnect cord and extra fabric are awkward with fenders or huggers (three owners)
  • Status light hard to see in daylight (two owners)
  • Side-curtain stitching frayed after two years (one owner)
  • One owner's rear warmer stopped working in the third or fourth session. Woodcraft replaced the set (one owner)

The dual stage warm and hot zone selection is an awesome feature.

Lights are very hard to see in daylight.

Owner threads we read (3)

Riders who go out for several sessions a day and want a hold-warm setting and a safety cut-off.

How to choose

Do you need tire warmers on a track day?

It depends on the tire. Tire makers publish their own advice, and it differs by tire type. Dunlop's pressure page says the use of tyre warmers is mandatory for professional dry-weather racing tyres (KR, GP PRO) and highly recommended for track-day tyres (GP RACER). The same page says warmers are prohibited for road-biased tyres such as the SportSmart Mk3, and for wet racing tyres. Dunlop says warmers may be used with SportSmart TT but are not needed because of its short warm-up time.

Pirelli's pressure tables for its Diablo Supercorsa V3 SC and Diablo Superbike list warmer use of 50 minutes at 80 C (176 F) for the main sizes. A few small sizes on the Diablo Superbike table are marked optional.

If you ride DOT street tires, read your tire maker's page before buying a set. The No Limits Trackdays FAQ pages we read do not make warmers a requirement. The European FAQ lists tyre warmers among the items a rider can pack in the transport crate. We could not find warmer rules on the MSV Trackdays or Trackdaz pages we loaded. Each organiser sets its own rules, so check the current rulebook, tech inspection notes and paddock policy for your event.

Fixed temperature or adjustable

A fixed (single-temp) warmer holds one preset. Chicken Hawk's Classic Standard sits at 175 F, and the STG set is pre-set at 175 F. A dual or three-temp warmer adds a lower hold setting for the gaps between sessions. Chicken Hawk says a standby setting around 130 F (55 C) suits waiting periods and rain tires. Woodcraft's Warm setting targets about 135 F for the tire.

A fully adjustable warmer, like Chicken Hawk's Professional Digital, lets you match the temperature on your tire maker's chart. Dunlop's chart lists settings from 80 C to 100 C depending on the slick, so a preset warmer may not match every tire.

A warmer's setpoint is not always the same as the tire's temperature. Use the warmer maker's guidance and the tire maker's guidance together.

Sizes and fit

Warmers are sold by tire width, and most sets fit 17 inch wheels. Woodcraft offers a rear for 160 to 200 and a smaller one for up to 150 (Woodcraft names the Ninja 300, R3 and RC390). The STG set fits 110 to 120 front and 180 to 205 rear. Vortex lists two rear sizes, 140 to 165 and 180 to 200. Capit sells medium, large, XL and XXL sizes.

Owners of 180 rear tires on the STG set report some overlap, and owners with front and rear huggers on Woodcraft sets report bunched fabric. Check your hugger and fender clearance before buying.

Power: what the makers say

Warmers draw a lot of current, and makers give their figures in different ways. Chicken Hawk's FAQ says a superbike set draws 1150 watts (550 front, 600 rear). The retailer lists the STG set at 650 watts rear and 500 front, also 1150 watts. Woodcraft suggests a 1000W (10 amp) generator when AC power is not available. Do not treat these as a safe match: use a generator rated above the combined draw of everything you plug in, and read your warmer's manual.

Most US sets are 120V only. Woodcraft says its warmers are designed to run on a 120 volt source. Chicken Hawk sells 120V and 240V versions, and Capit sells US, UK, EU and Australian plugs. Buyers in the UK and Australia should buy the correct voltage rather than rely on adapters.

Many circuits restrict generators or noise in the paddock, and we found no universal rule. Ask your organiser before you bring one.

Using warmers

Chicken Hawk recommends about 45 minutes for a full heat soak, with an initial heat-up of 7 to 8 minutes. Dunlop's chart lists a minimum of 60 minutes at 80 C for its KR slicks. Pirelli lists 50 minutes at 80 C. Follow your tire maker.

Follow the maker's manual on switching off and unplugging. Woodcraft's quick disconnect cuts power when the warmer comes off the tire. One reviewer on Woodcraft's own site says a Chicken Hawk front warmer failed after the set was left plugged in.

Keep chain lube off the warmers. Two Woodcraft owners report lube on the side curtains.

Questions buyers ask

Do I need tire warmers for my first track day?

Not necessarily. It depends on the tires. Dunlop says warmers are prohibited for road-biased tires such as the SportSmart Mk3, highly recommended for its track-day tires and mandatory for its professional dry-weather racing tires. Read your tire maker's advice and your organiser's rules.

How long do tire warmers take to heat a tire?

Makers give different figures. Chicken Hawk recommends about 45 minutes for a full heat soak. Pirelli's pressure tables list 50 minutes at 80 C, and Dunlop's chart lists at least 60 minutes at 80 C for its KR slicks. Owners of the STG set report roughly 25 to 40 minutes to reach temperature.

What generator do I need for tire warmers?

Woodcraft suggests a 1000W (10 amp) generator for its warmers. Chicken Hawk says a superbike set draws 1150 watts. Choose a generator rated above the total draw of everything you plug in, and check your organiser's generator rules.

Fixed temperature or adjustable warmers?

Fixed sets are cheaper and simple. Dual or three-temp sets add a lower hold setting. Fully adjustable sets let you match a tire maker's temperature chart. Dunlop's chart lists 80 C to 100 C depending on the tire, so a single preset may not suit every tire.

Can I use US tire warmers in the UK or Australia?

Most US sets are 120V. Chicken Hawk lists 240V versions, and Capit lists UK (230V) and Australian (240V) plugs. Buy the voltage that matches your supply. Do not rely on a plug adapter, because it changes the plug shape and not the voltage.

Why are Suzuka warmers not in this guide?

We found no current Suzuka product page we could read, so we did not list it. Chicken Hawk's policy page says its older Privateer line is no longer in production.

Can I leave warmers plugged in?

Follow the maker's manual. Woodcraft's warmers have a quick disconnect that cuts power when they come off the tire. One reviewer on Woodcraft's site says a Chicken Hawk front warmer failed after the set was left plugged in.
